For the 21st consecutive year, Bristol Community College will celebrate the life and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the celebration of his birth Monday, January 18. Due to COVID constraints, this year’s event will be held virtually.
Bristol has traditionally held a community breakfast to celebrate Dr. King, but that will not be possible due to the limits on personal gatherings posed by the pandemic. Bristol Director of Multicultural Affairs Rob Delaleu says this year’s virtual event will include many of the same elements of the past, including remarks from a keynote speaker and a series of virtual workshops focusing on community service.
The college’s annual celebration of Dr. King has always focused on empowering people to play an active role in making positive changes within their community. Mr. Delaeu says that message is more important now based on the challenges we currently face as a nation.
The virtual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is open to all. For more information and registration, visit http://www.bristolcc.edu/MLK.
