Bristol Community College hosted a traveling display today that focuses on ending the stigma around mental health and preventing suicide.
Send Silence Packing is an exhibit that aims to visually depict to students the impact of suicide and the importance of seeking help. It is run by Active Minds, an organization dedicated to devising suicide prevention resources for young people.
Ms. Apicerno, a mental health counselor at Bristol, says college students are at the age when they begin to experience mental health challenges.
Ms. Apicerno says it’s important for those who feel they are in distress to know that it is normal and they should not feel embarrassed to seek professional help.
