Dozens of seniors in Greater Fall River, Taunton and Attleboro rely on the Elder Nutrition Program at Bristol Elder Services to provide education, counseling and nutritious meals each weekday.

Program director Debora Avila-Carreiro says the program provides a vital lifeline for area seniors.

As the program faces COVID restrictions, Ms. Avila-Carreiro says meeting the dietary needs of clients has been a challenge.

The Elder Nutrition Program not only provides needed meals but also serves as a safety check on seniors who are isolated or have no immediate family members nearby. Throughout the pandemic, staff is still able to carry out this vital service.

Bristol Elder Services is still accepting applications of those 60 or older with physical, emotional or cognitive impairments which prohibit them from consistently preparing nutritious meals. For more information call (774) 627-1390.
