37 seniors at Bishop Connolly High School were celebrated at the school’s 54th and final graduation ceremony yesterday afternoon.
Earlier this spring the Diocese of Fall River announced that due to low enrollment, the school will close for good at the end of this academic year.
At the ceremony, student body president Brandan DeFaria said even though the school is closing, the community of people at Bishop Connolly will persevere over the sadness of its loss.
Valedictorian Anya Costello said the memories of the class of 2023 will be the springboard to a bright future.
The Most Reverend Edgar da Cunha, Bishop of Fall River, told the graduates to never waiver from their faith as they navigate what is to come next.
