Six months after the Commonwealth shut-down due to the effects of COVID-19 and two months into Phase 3 of re-opening, SouthCoast businesses still have no clear guidance as to their future.
Rick Kidder, Co-CEO of the One SouthCoast Chamber, says many local businesses are holding their own as best they can, while some sectors face challenges that will have a lasting negative impact.
Co-CEO Michael O’Sullivan says restaurants are doing their best at maximizing their revenue with space restrictions and are looking to continue to provide outdoor service for as long as the weather cooperates. He also says being adaptable and creative may not be enough for some businesses to survive.
Mr. Kidder says local businesses are frustrated by the lack of action from Washington in providing additional financial support.
