In Tuesday’s election, Congressman Jake Auchincloss was easily re-elected after running unopposed in the Fourth Massachusetts Congressional District that includes Fall River.

When he first ran in 2020 to succeed Congressman Joseph Kennedy. Congressman Auchincloss defeated eight challengers in the Democratic Primary and Republican Julie Hall in the General Election. He says he is thankful to the voters for their support during his first term.

When he is inaugurated in January Congressman Auchincloss will be representing all of Fall River. The city had been split between him and 9th District Congressman William Keating before the state was redistricted following the 2020 U.S. Census.

He says Fall River will be the largest city in his district and he hopes to continue to work with local leaders in representing the city in Washington.

As Congress moves into a lame-duck session for the rest of the year, Congressman Auchincloss feels inflation is still the biggest concern facing residents. His solution is to slowly reign in energy costs and transition to a clean energy future.

Congressman Auchincloss says there are other pressing matters before Congress that need to be addressed before the body adjourns in December.

Even though many voters see Congress as not working in a bipartisan manner, Congressman Auchincloss says much has been accomplished over the last two years.
