After a 38-year career as a teacher and former principal, Brian Bentley has returned as the interim superintendent/director at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School.
Bentley had been retired for nearly eight years when he was asked by the Diman school committee to return to lead the school following the resignation last month of former superintendent /director Dr. Elvio Ferreira.
Bentley has been hired to serve for up to one year while the school committee searches for a new superintendent. He says coming back to Diman has a familiar feel, although the academic and-cocurricular offerings have expanded.
Bentley says he will rely on the experience of his administrative team in keeping the school running smoothly while also imparting some institutional knowledge that may come in handy for the staff. More than anything else he is looking forward to once again working with the students.
Bentley says he will support the school as it heads into groundbreaking next year on the construction of a new facility at the Stonehaven Street site.
