Three out of seven engineering firms that proposed plans to design the approximately $68 million dollar Route 79/Davol Street corridor project have been asked to make presentations to an evaluation committee, according to officials at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The evaluation committee is overseen by Mass Dot, which held its first meeting last week at the District 5 office in Taunton to discuss the bids. Spokesperson Judith Riley could not say much about how the procurement process will proceed, but did say that the three finalists will have five weeks in which to prepare their presentations.
The seven firms that bid to perform 25 percent of the one-mile expanse were: AECOM; CDR Maguire; Jacobs; McMahon Associates; TranSystems Corp; Vanasse Hangen Brustline (VHB), and Weston & Sampson.
No list of specific dates were given for those presentations or the names of the three firms invited to respond to committee questions; instead, Riley said the firms would be vetted internally.
The next phase of the Route 79 construction extends north from the Cove Restaurant to the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
FRC Media will have updates as they become available.
