WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE LIBRARY?

The week after Memorial Day brings some fun events for both kids and adults to the library.

World Turtle Day is May 23, but the Children’s Room mascot, Sheldon the Tortoise, believes turtles deserve a whole week to celebrate, so that’s what we’re doing! All week, children can visit the library to pick up a take-home turtle craft and turtle toy and choose a book about turtles from our display. While they visit, children can say hello to Sheldon, our resident Russian tortoise.

Good news! Appointments are no longer required to visit the library. Walk-ins are welcome during normal library hours, which are currently 9 am-5 pm on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and 9 am-7 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We are still offering virtual programs, such as our weekly teen gaming groups, but expect to be able to offer more in-person events this summer, including outdoor concerts and storytimes. Follow us on Facebook or visit us at fallriverlibrary.org for updates.

On Tuesday, May 25, at 6 p.m., the library will host an online Pastel Painting Workshop with artist Gregory Maichack, sponsored by the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Because this program is so popular, we have added a second workshop on Tuesday, June 1. Online registration is required for this program. Registration will begin Wednesday, May 26 at 12 noon. Visit fallriverlibrary.org and select “Events and Programs” for more information.
