The United Way of Greater Fall River will kick off its campaign season with the United We Move event on Saturday at the Southeastern Massachusetts Bioreserve.
Walk-ins are welcome to take part in United We Move, which begins at 8:30 am.
United Way Executive Director Kim Smith says this year’s campaign goal is $1.25 million and will support over 70 community organizations that promote initiatives around health, youth, and financial and basic needs.
Every year the campaign receives backing from many corporate donors, but it’s individual contributions that account for half of the money raised.
The United Way is in the midst of accepting applications for its annual Food Pantry Grant program which will distribute $80,000 to 26 local food pantries within the seven communities the United Way serves in Greater Fall River.
The deadline for pantries to apply for the Food Pantry Grants program is next Wednesday, October 23.
