The United Way of Greater Fall River is distributing mini-grants in support of the work of local childcare workers
From the United Way of Greater Fall River
United Way of Greater Fall River is pleased to announce the distribution of $3,500 to local childcare programs through mini-grants to celebrate the work of childcare workers. These grants were made possible by United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley through their Childcare Appreciation Fund.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, childcare workers were truly on the front lines: adapting to changes in health and safety protocol, staffing shortages, and remote learning. These mini-grants will be used by childcare providers to support their staff with gift cards, food, staff appreciation outings and more to express deep gratitude for the role childcare providers play in our community and the lives of families. “This is great,” said People Incorporated Executive Director Megan Stirk, “We have received grants for supplies and materials, but nothing exclusively to thank our staff.” Each grant recipient is brainstorming with staff how to best use the funds to bring some joy and happiness to staff.
The following providers have each received a $500 grant: People Incorporated Preschool, Ninth Street Day Nursery, Kids Academy, Citizens for Citizens – Head Start, YMCA Fall River Childcare Program, SER-Jobs for Progress Childcare Program, Thomas Chew Boys & Girls Club Childcare Program
