On Monday, local restaurant owner and community activist Ricky Tith was beginning his trek for another run for the Fall River City Council. By Wednesday morning, he was sworn in as the council’s newest member following the resignation of Councilor Laura Sampson.
Councilor Tith says he has met with Mayor Paul Coogan and spoken to colleagues willing to help him transition to his new role.
Councilor Tith will be busy when the council next meets on May 13. It will again vote on the appointment of Interim Police Chief Kelly Furtado and may have received the administration’s FY 2026 budget plan.
With the appointment, Councilor Tith is the first city resident of Cambodian-American descent to be elected to local office.
