Although Fall River is in massive debt with the Combined Sewer Overflow problem the city has been facing for decades, Mayor Sam Sutter tells frcconnect.org that the city has been working hard to correct the problem:
To date: The CSO Screening & Disinfection Underground Treatment Plant located on President Avenue is up and running, meaning the water quality from Mount Hope Bay is 1,000 percent cleaner than it was 25 years ago.
The City’s Administrator of Public Utilities Terry Sullivan,”Over two decades ago there was so much sewage running into Mount Hope Bay you could only see murky water under only a couple of inches of surface water,” he says. “Not the new treatment facility is one thousand percent cleaner than twenty-five years ago.”
