The Fall River City Clerk and The Board of Elections Office continue to work together to organize a recall election should indicted Mayor Jasiel Correia not resign office by the end of business today, December 26th, 2018. Enough signatures from registered voters to hold the election were certified by Board of Elections Chair Kelly Souza-Young who stands by her certification process despite Correia’s objections that some of the signatures were not authentic. Souza-Young tells FRC Media News that in order not to muddy perception of her role in a possible recall election, she recused herself from her latest board meeting held last week:
FRC Media News attempted to speak with the City’s Corporation Counsel Judge Joe Macy about this issue today, but was not successful after being informed that Macy was in a meeting and unavailable for comment.
