The Fall River Fire Department has released a press release to announce that telemarketers who call individuals soliciting donations for the department are scammers.
According to Fire Chief John Lynch, no one at the fire department is soliciting donations or conducting any other type of fundraising activity. He urges residents to hang up if they receive calls from people representing themselves as fire department officials.
“This is a phone scam,” Fall River Police Department Public Information Officer Detective John Robinson said.
According to police the numbers appearing on caller ID’s are (978)-908-2395 and (508) 418-0979.
“If you feel you are the victim of a scam please contact your local police,” the release stated.
