One city school has been recognized by the state as being an attendance all-star.
Last year Tansey Elementary School was at the top of the list in reducing chronic absenteeism, defined as students who miss 18 or more days of school a year.
Massachusetts Secretary of Education Patrick Tutwiler was on hand to celebrate the achievement with Tansey students and teachers during its ice cream social Tuesday afternoon.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tracy Curley said the district is making strides in reducing absenteeism at all schools.
As a reward, the school was presented with a basketball signed by every member of the 2024 Boston Celtics NBA championship team
