The City of Fall River has a new fire chief.
At a swearing in ceremony scheduled for later today, John Lynch, who had been serving as provisional fire chief since former Chief Robert Viveiros left that post, will now head the department.
Lynch will officially be sworn into office during a ceremony at Government Center where Mayor Jasiel Correia will give a short speech and answer any questions. The public is invited to attend the event to be held in the Fall River Room on the sixth floor at 3:30 p.m.
Last week the city council approved the appointment for Lynch to serve in the top spot at a salary of approximately $150 thousand dollars a year.
