Members of the Fall River Educators’ Association and the school committee met this week for another bargaining session on a new contract for city teachers. No agreement has been reached.
The two sides are scheduled to meet again on November 26. Teachers have been working without a contract since the beginning of the school year.
Mayor Paul Coogan says both sides have made concessions on salary increases and he remains hopeful that a middle ground can be reached.
The mayor says the city has proposed mediation for the two sides to seek outside help in resolving differences.
In terms of mediation, FREA president Keith Michon said the following.
“FREA is not interested in mediation at this time. We continue to bargain in good faith and we’re hopeful we can reach an agreement on the 26th. Mediation will only drag this out longer.”
