Steppingstone, Inc.’s First Step Inn homeless shelter continues to meet the needs of those without housing in Fall River.
Director of Homeless Services Rosa Medeiros says even though the number of those seeking shelter traditionally is less during the summer months, the battle against COVID combined with inflation has resulted in an increase in those requiring service.
This Saturday the organization is hosting the annual Get Steppin’ 5K Walk for Homeless fundraiser. Ms. Medieros says the annual event returns in person after being held virtually during the pandemic.
Walkers interested in taking part in the walk can pre-register on Steppingstone’s website or can report to the First Step Inn at 134 Durfee Street Saturday beginning at 8:00 am. The walk will step off at 9:00 am.
