According to State Representative Alan Silvia, Commissioner Mitchell Chester of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is pleased to announce that the Department has awarded the FY16 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grants for Students on an IEP. A school or program that draws students from our district is one of the grant recipients. Greene Elementary School in Fall River will receive $10,000.
The purpose of this federally funded grant program is to enhance the capacity of current 21st Century Community Learning Center programs (CCLC) to include students on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) into an array of activities designed to complement their school-day programs, advance student achievement, and provide opportunities for socializing and participating with peers without disabilities.
