The Massachusetts School Building Authority today voted unanimously to provide funding for the construction of a new Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School on Stonehaven Road.
The state will commit over $145.7 million dollars to build the $293.4 million high school. Assistant Superintendent/Principal Andrew Rebello says with new high schools built in recent years in Fall River, Westport and Somerset the time is right to invest in a new Diman.
It is unclear how much Fall River and the other communities serviced by the school will have to contribute to the project, but votes on those allocations could come as early as this spring. Rebello says asking taxpayers to foot the bill for another new school will not be easy, but worth the effort.
If all the financial obligations are met, construction could be completed in 2026 or 2027.
