Dozens of Fall River Roman Catholics filled the shrine at St. Anne’s Church this morning to celebrate the final mass at the historic south end landmark.
Today’s mass was led by Most Reverend Edgar Moreira da Cunha, S.D.V, bishop of the Fall River diocese. During his homily and following the mass, the bishop emphasized that those who have faith in God will always find a home in the church, regardless of its physical location.
The diocese made the difficult decision to close the parish earlier this fall, citing a lack of funds needed to renovate the aging church.
