St. Anne’s Church Slated To Close

Donna Motta October 14, 2018 Comments Off on St. Anne’s Church Slated To Close

St. Anne’s Church in Fall River is set to close November 25th, 2018. This decision was announced in a press release by Bishop Edgar da Cunha over the weekend. The reason? The iconic church has been badly deteriorating over the years, and is in need of expensive repairs.

Bishop da Cunha is hoping parishioners will considering becoming a part of a Catholic Community of Central Fall River, once the structure is closed. The future of the building, located on South Main Street across from Kennedy Park, has twin bell towers and steeples that are nearly 200 feet tall.

Bishop da Cunha stated: “It is my intention to form an ad-hoc committee whose singular mission will be the adaptive re-use of the St. Anne’s building,” adding the decision comes with a ‘heavy heart.’
