The Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) will hold a public hearing early next month seeking feedback on three proposed route changes and its temporary free fare and Sunday services.
SRTA Administrator Erik Rousseau says the authority continues to seek ways to improve the rider experience, and amending routes is part of the process.
SRTA is proposing changes to three routes, two are in the north end. The Robeson Street route (Route 104) and the Bristol Community College route (Route 108) will eliminate duplication while still servicing the nearby Truesdale Clinic complex.
The third change being undertaken will be the Stafford Road route (Route 105)
Thanks to money appropriated by the state legislature, SRTA customers have been able to ride free of charge since January. The complimentary service, slated to end on June 30, has been popular with an uncertain future.
Early this year SRTA launched a pilot project re-introducing Sunday service. That project has also been well received.
The Sunday service project is also slated to end on June 30th with continuation contingent on funding to cover costs.
SRTA is also contemplating reducing the number of bus stops and improving wayfinding and information for riders.
The public hearing will be held on May 1 at 3:00 pm at the Fall River terminal at 118 4th Street. Riders can also submit written comments to info@srtabus.com by May 20.
