If the weather holds up, over $300 thousand dollars in repairs will be made to Fall River’s sidewalks beginning next month. That from Executive Director of the Fall River Community Development Agency Mike Dion.
The project is being funded as part of CDA’s Development Block Grant money awards for fiscal year 2017. About 175 areas around the city have been targeted for sidewalk repairs in low-income and primarily residential areas, in accordance with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Criteria.
Dion says that the repairs require that approximately 55 hundred square yards of concrete be laid down with the worst areas of the city being targeted first.
RFP bids have been issued and are due by November 27th.
Dion says the work could begin by early December if the weather holds out, but if not, then by late March or early April with the work expected to June 30th.
The side walk project is part of Mayor Correia’s overall initiative to improve the city’s infrastructure with a more than $10 million dollar capital bonding plan that includes seven city streetscape projects.
