The Fall River School Committee will hold a special meeting Thursday night to appoint an interim superintendent and work on the termination of its contract with current superintendent Matthew Malone.
Malone has been embroiled in controversy after allegations that arose earlier this year that he acted inappropriately in front of staff.
Following an investigation, the school committee voted to retain the superintendent while cutting his pay and inserting a clause allowing for his dismissal without cause.
Last month Malone informed the committee of his intention to resign effective November 1st. Since then some members called on terminating the superintendent’s contract immediately.
The agenda posted for the meeting calls for the committee to vote on an interim superintendent then head into executive session to “conduct contract negotiations with non-union personnel including the Superintendent of Schools, Matthew H. Malone”.
The school committee meeting begins Thursday at 6pm at Kuss Middle School.
