The search committee reviewing candidates to be Fall River’s next Superintendent of Schools forwarded the names of four finalists to be considered by the board.
Here is the list of finalists:
- Tracy Curley, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer, Fall River Public Schools: Dr. Curley has worked within the district since 2009, serving as Associate Principal at Durfee High School from 2009 to 2014, Principal at the Henry Lord Community School from 2014 to 2017 and within the department’s administration serving as Curriculum Director (2017-2018) and Director of Data, Assessment, Accountability, and Research (2018 -2022).
- Elizabeth Legault, Superintendent, East Bridgewater Public Schools: Ms. Legault has served in her current role in East Bridgewater since 2015. A native of upstate New York, Ms. Legault taught and served as a principal in Rhode Island for nearly 20 years. She was relieved of her duties as a principal in Central Falls, RI in 2011 after the school system was taken over by the state of Rhode Island. She also served as Superintendent of the Whitehall Schools in New York before her appointment in East Bridgewater.
- Ana Riley, Superintendent, Bristol Warren Regional School District (RI): A resident of Fall River, Ms. Riley has served in her current role as superintendent since late 2021. Before that, she was superintendent in Portsmouth from 2014 to 2020 and transitioned to Deputy Commissioner for Instructional Programs for the Rhode Island Department of Education for nearly two years. Ms. Riley is the wife of Kyle Riley, former city councilor and candidate for mayor in 2019. Mr. Riley serves as Principal of the Robert L. Medeiros Resiliency Preparatory Academy in Fall River.
- David Thomson, Ed. D., Superintendent, Norwood Public Schools: Dr. Thomson has been superintendent in Norwood since 2017. From 2014 to 2017 he served as Assistant Superintendent at the Blackstone Millville Regional School District in Central Massachusetts. Earlier this year Dr. Thomson was a finalist to be superintendent in the Town of Natick.
The school committee hopes to begin public interviews with all candidates soon. The board would like to name a new superintendent before July 1. Retiring Superintendent Maria Pontes will leave the district on June 30.
Might want to dig into Ana Riley’s background to see why a 15 year old in Portsmouth hung himself under her watch. This should of never happened
