The Fall River School Committee received an update on the restriction of cell phones in the city’s middle schools and Durfee High School. The program of locking away phones, earbuds, and smartwatches during school hours began last week.
The administration says the rollout has gone well thanks to the months of planning and communication between staff, students, and parents.
Durfee student delegate Brooke Tabicas provided an update from the student’s perspective. She says the rollout has made a positive impact.
Ms. Tabicas did report on some obstacles to the policy. She says many students store school-related passwords on their phones and without their earbuds, some students have been unable to access online classwork.
