The School Committee met several times this week to discuss ways to cut the $141 Million dollar proposed School Department budget for fiscal year 2017 that begins July 1st. Committee member Joseph Martins says the city simply does not have the money to add the requested $8.2 million dollars above the net school spending state requirement of about $133 million. Martins tells frcmedianews.org that the committee managed to make a 3 percent budget cut recommendation as the result of this weeks sessions:
