The Fall River Corps of the Salvation Army seeks community support during its upcoming holiday giving campaigns.

Over 600 residents have registered for two-holiday food pantry distributions for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Major Alexis Castillo is asking residents to contribute $10 gift cards from local grocery stores to allow recipients to purchase the meat products of their choice based on their holiday traditions

The distribution will take November 19 and 20th for Thanksgiving and December 17 and 18 for Christmas with flexibility for those selecting food from the pantry.

Registration for the holiday food pantries is closed. The Salvation Army will host two holiday meals for anyone in the community before Thanksgiving and Christmas on November 24 and December 23.

In addition to the holiday giving events, the organization coordinates support for those in need year-round.

Soon after Thanksgiving, the Salvation Army will be deploying its famous red kettles at local shopping centers across the region to raise $80,000 to support its mission.

The organization is looking for volunteers to staff the kettles. Advisory board member Carl Sawejko says it’s a great opportunity for those to provide a non-monetary contribution to the Salvation Army.
