Residents Asked to Take Part in City Census

Keith Thibault April 5, 2019 Comments Off on Residents Asked to Take Part in City Census

The City of Fall River is preparing for its annual census and is asking all residents to take part.  Residents have ten days to return the completed forms.

Here is more from the Board of Elections:

The Fall River Board of Election Commissioners is requesting all Fall River residents respond to the mailing of the 2019 City Census. The laws of this state require this office to contact all city residents annually.

An accurate census would be of tremendous benefit to the City of Fall River because a significant part of our local government budget is based on revenues received from the State and Federal Government. Many of these aid programs use census statistics as a fair way to distribute funds for health, education, senior citizen needs, veterans’ benefits, highways, job training, and school lunch programs.

Proof of residency is required for many reasons so it is important that everyone is listed. Anyone temporarily away from home, such as students, servicemen, federal personnel who wish to retain a permanent address in Fall River should be listed with parents or other relatives.

This year’s Census has an “A” for active voter and “I” for an inactive voter in the Political Party column. Your political party will not be changed unless the voter instructs us to do so. Please be sure to make any other corrections such as occupation, apartment number, new family members, dates of birth •and deaths on the forms and return to this office as soon as possible. The census f01ms must be signed and returned even if there are no changes in the household.

If any resident does not receive a form, especially residents in new dwellings, please notify our office at (508)324-2630. The Board of Elections office is located on the sixth floor of Government Center, Room 636. We ask the cooperation of every resident.
