Fall River is getting set to dedicate its replica Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at a ceremony this Saturday at Bicentennial Park.
After four years of planning and construction, the 80% replica wall will be the first of its kind in New England and the only one within Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Joseph Marshall, a Vietnam veteran and chair of the local committee to locate the wall in Fall River, says the impact the monument has on veterans who visit it in Washington, DC, or in Fall River, varies.
City Councilor Linda Pereira coordinated the elements of the dedication event.
Even though the dedication is being held within a city public park, due to COVID gathering restrictions organizers are recommending those not invited to the ceremony watch the dedication live on FRCMedia, channel 95, FREDTV, channel 9, FRGTV, channel 18, or on the FRCMedia, FREDTV or FRGTV Facebook pages. The ceremony begins Saturday at 12 noon.
