The Registry of Motor Vehicles will close from March 23rd – March 25th so the computer system which has been in operation for thirty years can be upgraded to a newer version. Other than law enforcement, services including motor vehicle inspections, registry online services, and in-person services at registry and AAA locations will not be available from 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22nd until 8:00 Monday, March 26th.
The new computer system will allow the registry to issue federally mandated REAL ID credentials, which allow some members of the public to use a driver’s license as federal identification.
