A water main break under Ray Street in Fall River has caused the closure of that road until Friday. According to the city’s Administrator of Public Utilities Terry Sullivan, the pavement is buckled and broken in places, and extensive repairs are necessary. Sullivan says the 20 inch water main break – which occurred last Friday – sent water running down the hill and turning onto Langley Street that caused flooding all the way to Elsbree Street.
Due to the repair work, parents of Tansey school students are being advised to alter the way they travel to drop off and pick up their children from the elementary school.
City engineers have been assessing what construction work is needed to repair the roadway. Work is expected to start today or tomorrow, weather permitting.
