The Fall River City Council Finance Committee voted last night to send the Mayor’s request to eliminate the purple bag trash program to the ordinance committee. The mayor had sent his request to eliminate the ordinance to the full council this month, but the item was referred to the Finance Committee instead.
Mayor Correia had made a campaign promise to get rid of the purple bags, but has been unable to convince the City Council to eliminate the ordinance creating the program. The Ordinance Committee may take up the issue at its next meeting and make any recommendations to the full council for consideration.
