A public discussion on how to make the City of Fall River a more ‘walkable’ community is coming up.

The gathering is being sponsored by the non profit group Mass in Motion in collaboration with SStar, a family health care center.

Date: Wednesday, September 30th

Where: The City Council Hearing Room at Government Center

Time: 6:00  p.m.

Mass in Motion Coordinator Julianne Kelly says that the U.S. Surgeon General recommends 20 minutes of walking a day helps keep people healthy.

“We would like to see people take his recommendation,” she says adding that “There are plenty of places to walk in Fall River.” The upcoming discussion is designed to talk about how best to map out waking paths, ensure traffic is not a problem, and give the walkers access to markets where they can buy healthy foods.”

The discussion is free and all are welcome.
