The Preservation Society of Fall River has recently been the recipient of family items from the descendent of a city doctor who was once a leader in Fall River’s role in liberating slaves via the Underground Railroad.
The family of Dr. Isaac Fiske in Canada contacted the society earlier this summer to donate heirlooms which will stored at Dr. Fiske’s former home, owned by the Preservation Society at 263 Pine Street.
The proposed Underground Railroad Museum will be located at the Fiske House and the Preservation Society recently launched a capital campaign to raise $50,000 to build out the museum.
The Fiske House is one of six known Underground Railroad locations in Fall River. Mr. Silva hopes that all six locations will have a presence at the museum once it opens.
