The FY2016 property assessments should reflect fair market value as of January 1, 2015. These assessments are based on market activity that occurred during calendar year 2014. Taxpayers who do not find physical discrepancies but choose to challenge their property assessments may do so by filing an Application for Abatement after the actual tax bills are mailed in December. Tax bills based on the new values will be issued prior to January 1, 2016. Abatement applications can be filed once the tax-bills are issued and no later than February 1, 2016.
