The Offshore Powerboat Association plans to hold its annual race from the Borden Light Marina on Fall River’s waterfront this weekend. A boat safety zone will be in effect on the practice day – Saturday, August 26th – and on the day of the actual race on Sunday, August 27th. According to Race Organizer and Marina Owner Michael Lund, the colorful boats will arrive in Fall River on Friday. Although residents are invited to the waterfront to watch the boats, parking will be limited. Mayor Jasiel Correia held a news conference this week and announced a firework display with also be part of the waterfront activities. In addition, the boat races also take place during the city’s annual Holy Ghost Feast event to be held at Kennedy park beginning tomorrow night.
