It’s time once again for the Polar Plunge, a winter fundraiser to benefit Forever Paws Animal Shelter located at 300 Linwood Avenue in Fall River. The 7th annual fundraiser will be held at Sandy Beach on Atlantic Boulevard at the end of Mount Hope Avenue on New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2018. The plunge starts at 10:00 a.m. In previous years the event has been well attended with people willing to take a dip in the icy ocean for what they consider a good cause.
There is still time to obtain a sponsor sheet by contacting Pat Casey at (508) 320-9569 or Forever Paws President Gail Furtado at (508) 678-0804. Mayor Jasiel Correia’s office also has the sheets available at Government Center.
UPDATE December 29, 2017: Due to the forecast of extremely cold temperatures on New Year’s Day, the organizers of the plunge have announced this year’s event has been canceled.
