An author who fares from Hawaii will be at the Fall River Marine Museum at the city’s waterfront next week for a lecture concerning the attack on Pearl Harbor over 70 years ago.
Date: Tuesday, October 27th
Time: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Price: $5 dollars per person.
According to Marine Museum Director Maria Vann, author Daniel A. Martinez is a Pacific War Historian who has analyzed primary photographs taken during the bombing of Hiroshima over 70 years ago.
“Mr. Martinez has conduced an intensive analysis of rare photos taken during attack on Pearl Harbor and plans to share his knowledge with museum visitors next week,” Ms. Vann tells frcconnect.org.
A hallowed name in US history, Pearl Harbor was the site of the December 7, 1941 bombing by the Japanese that wrenched the United States into World War II. In total, nine U.S. ships were sunk and 21 others damaged. The eventual death toll is believed to be close to twenty five hundred people.
According to Ms. Vann, “Over the years images that were taken prior to and during the attack on the United States military forces on Oahu have been largely under appreciated and misinterpreted. This presentation will show rare pictures taken by the Japanese and Americans during the raid on Pearl Harbor and should prove interesting to our visitors.”
A question and answer period will follow the lecture. Mr. Martinez will also be available for a book signing.
