Mayor Jasiel Correia II announced today that his administration plans to privatize trash removal in the city. In addition, because the city has lost about a million dollars in non-compliance revenue in connection with the implementation of the purple bag trash removal program about two years ago, a new policy to regain the lost revenue has been put into place. Correia invited his Chief of Staff Chris Payrano to the podium at today’s well attended news conference to explain the roll out plan. Payrano explain that first, letters will be sent out later in April to explain the new policy to landlords and tenants, and then a warning week will begin May 9th:
