Although the vote to recall federally indicted Mayor Jasiel Correia II in yesterday’s special recall election passed with an approximate 3,000 vote lead over those against the recall, Correia was then voted back into office. Correia won the top post over second place challenger, School Committeeman Paul Coogan by less than 300 votes. During his concession speech, Coogan said he will not legally challenge the vote tally:
The other candidates who split the vote were City Councilor Joe Camara, Former City Councilor and School Committee member Kyle Riley, and new comer Erica Scott-Pacheco.
