FRPL Hosts Online Pastel Painting Workshop with Gregory Maichack

The Fall River Public Library welcomes art lovers for a new ZOOM Pastel Painting Workshop with award-winning pastel artist Gregory John Maichack, to be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. The subject will be Jean Francois Millet’s “Dandelions.”

This fun, highly researched two-hour workshop guides everyone step by step in producing their original pastel of Millet’s elegant “Dandelions.” Mr. Maichack visited the Museum of Fine Arts
(MFA) Boston, the largest collection of Millet’s pastels, and he took pictures of “Dandelions,” which is in their permanent collection.

Using professional-grade pastels, pastel pencils, and pastel paper, participants can create their own interpretation of Millet’s “Dandelions.” Although this workshop, unlike past programs, willbe held online, everyone who takes part can still expect guidance, tips, and techniques from Mr. Maichack, whose popular painting workshops have been presented in more than 800 libraries.

Online registration is required. People can register at fallriverlibrary.org starting Tuesday, May 4 at 12 noon. Registered participants can pick up art supplies at the library before the event. This project is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
