An organizational meeting will be held Wednesday evening, January 9th at Scottie’s Restaurant in Fall River for Paul Coogan who has taken out nomination papers to run for mayor in the March 12th recall election.
FRC Media News spoke with Coogan today, who says he is ‘off and running’ in his bid to unseat indicted Mayor Jasiel Correia II. During the 6:00 p.m. organizational meeting Coogan will ask for volunteers to hold signs, make phone calls, and do what is necessary to get his campaign message out to the public.
In a recent facebook post, Coogan declared he will work hard if elected to office:
‘As someone who has always believed that public service is a noble calling, and after three decades of exemplary work toward the betterment of the Fall River Public Schools as both an administrator and member of the school committee, I feel the time has arrived for a new challenge. Today I, Paul Coogan, officially announce my candidacy for the Office of Mayor.
I intend to bring a hands on, highly visible and inclusive approach to the Office of Mayor. Through leadership by example I will work full time to restore morale and a sense of civic pride in our community. I will assure that City residents and public employees alike have a strong voice in crafting the future of their city government.
The City of Fall River faces many issues and challenges. In the coming days, and throughout the course of this campaign, I will outline my approach to addressing these issues. I look forward to this campaign and the opportunity to meet and listen to the viewpoints of the citizens. I pledge to provide solid trustworthy leadership for our great City and its’ people.’
