The Fall River Public Library has a wide range of Halloween-themed events throughout the month of October.

Bewitching October Events at the Fall River Public Library

In addition to all of our recurring events and our Fall River Public Library Celebrates Japan program series, we are hosting many other exciting fall and Halloween inspired events to celebrate one of our favorite months here at the library. All events are free and no library card is required, but due to limited space, some events require attendees to pre-register by calling our circulation desk at 508-324-2700 x 2. See below for details!

October 9, 2025 from 6pm-7pm join us for The Moon and Self Care, a workshop where we’ll explore how your astrological moon placement can support you in tending to your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to improve health and well being. Come prepared with your birth data and chart. Register for this event by calling the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 2. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. This program is intended for adults.

On October 11th from 11am-12pm kids can attend our Ooey-Gooey Slime Workshop! Learn the secrets to making perfectly gooey slime in this fun-filled workshop! Register for this event by
calling the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 4 beginning October 3rd. This program is intended for children aged five and older.

From October 14th through October 31st, whenever you visit the Children’s Room you can try your luck playing our Pumpkin Disc Game! Just drop the pumpkin shaped discs down the
pegboard and see where it lands. Depending on where it lands you could win a prize! This program is intended for children aged twelve and younger.

On October 15th from 5pm-6pm get into the Halloween spirit with this classic spooky tradition: pumpkin carving! We’ll provide everything you need, all you’ll have to do is show up, choose your pumpkin, and get to carving. We’ll meet outside the library on the Elm Street lawn. In case it rains, the program will be held on October 18th at 1pm. This program is intended for those aged 13 and older.

On October 16th from 6-7pm Join us for a spooky trip through the haunted Children’s Room and see it as never before! Creepy creatures, spooky ghosts and ghastly pirates will roam this
once familiar room for one night only. Receive your own “Ghost Light” before entering for protection and keep it as a souvenir of your journey! Drop by the meeting room after your spooky sojourn to make a fun craft and participate in other activities. This program is intended for children aged five and older.

On October 21st from 5:30pm-7:30pm enjoy this unique opportunity to receive a one-on-one 10 minute tarot reading and explore a topic of your choosing. Register for this event by calling
the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 ext. 2. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. This program is intended for those aged 10 and older.

October 24th from 5pm-7pm, the bookmobile will attend Fall River’s Trunk or Treat event in the Nagle Auditorium Parking Lot. Children are invited to dress in their Halloween best and
trick-or-treat from creatively decorated car trunks. All Fall River families can enjoy treats, music, and activities at this free event. The library’s contribution is sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union.

On October 27th from 6-7pm, we’ll gather around the “campfire” on the library lawn for “s’mores” and spooky campfire stories. David Mello will regale those who dare to attend with frightening tales from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. This program is intended for those aged 13 and older.

On October 29th from 5:30-6pm, join us for a dramatized reading of The Raven in the library lobby. Then from 6-7:45pm, stick around for a special performance by Doctor Gasp! Beneath
the mask of this phantom is a New England folk musician Dan Blakeslee with his unique Halloween songs oozing with vampires and ghastly creeps. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. This program is intended for all ages.

On October 30th from 6-7:30pm, you can attend a talk on The History of Witchcraft and Feminism. This lecture delves into the history of worship of the divine feminine, the evolution
of Greco-Roman mythology, and how archetypical imagining is part of an evolutionary shift in mass consciousness. Sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union. This program is intended for
adults.
