Seventeen applicants have applied for the position of Department of Community Maintenance formerly held by Ken Pachecco. According to City Administrator Cathy Ann Viveiros, a review committee has been selected as part of the search process.

Committee members include: City Engineer Byron Holmes; Administrator of Community Utilities Terrence Sullivan — a former public works director; Human Resource Director Madeline Coelho; Chief of Staff Christopher Parayno, and Cathy Ann Vivieiros.

Mayor Correia reached out to Shawn Cadime for city council representation. City Council Vice President Linda Perreira and her colleague Palm Laliberte-Lebeau will represent the council on the review committee.

Because there are internal candidates, Viveiros says Pachecco will not be part of the committee. Pacheco now serves as Director of City Buildings and is charged with municipal buildings, Community Preservation Act projects, building capitol and maintenance.

The closing for applicant resumes was last week. Viveiros says the candidates who applied are all well qualified. There is one internal candidate and several outside candidates with advanced degrees.

The reorganization of DCM is part of Mayor Correia’s reorganization plan.
