Fall River has a new Community Development Outreach Coordinator, Fall River native Monica Sousa. She was hired by Michael Dion, the city’s Community Development Agency Director.
“I’m thrilled to have Monica on my team,” said Dion. “Her background, her knowledge, her education is going to be a tremendous asset to the Fall River Community Development Agency and the city of Fall River.
Sousa is charged with working closely with residents to access government services in order for them to enrich their lives in the community. Mostly, she will work with neighborhood and city leaders in revitalizing abandoned and vacant properties.
The 34 year old lives in the city’s southend and is a first generation American and the child of Azorean immigrants.
Sousa earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration at Bristol Community College, then attended the University of Massachusetts reportedly leaving with a degree in sociology. She started the job at the beginning of this fiscal year.
