The Fall River Public Schools will open a new facility in the south end of the city this fall and when students arrive, they will be greeted with a mural of one of their own on the north side of the building.

The district is moving the Stone Day School and opening Pre-K classes at the former location of the Atlantis Charter School at 2501 South Main Street. District Chief Operating Officer Ken Pacheco and Fine and Performing Arts Director Jackie Francisco devised the idea for the mural. The subject is a child currently a Pre-K student at the school and represents the potential of all youngsters attending the Fall River Public Schools.

The mural was designed and painted by Montreal-based artist Kevin Ledo. Mr. Ledo created a similar mural at the John J. Doran Community School in July of 2022.

Ms. Francisco says the mural projects were a partnership between the school department and the Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition (FRACC) and Viva Fall River. She hopes residents will appreciate the artwork and its significance to the fabric of Fall River.
