Beginning tomorrow, the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project will spray the area around Kennedy park to decrease the mosquito population.

Frcconnect.org spoke with BCMCP Superintendent Ms. Priscilla Matton today. She says trucks will be traveling along streets around the park between 2:00 and 6:00 a.m.

“Workers will be use a ULV sprayer on ultra low volume to dispense the chemical agent designed to kill mosquito’s in the vicinity,” she says.

According to Ms. Matton, the spray shoots out 300 feet from the truck and is dispersed depending on the wind level and direction.

The purpose is to decrease the mosquito population in light of the Feast of the Holy Ghost to take part at Kennedy park beginning Wednesday, August 26th.

In the meantime, Ms. Matton advises residents to stay indoors after dusk, use insect repellent if out of doors, and wear long sleeves and pants.

“This advice will help your chances of being bitten,” she says.
